In its initial reaction to the proposed amendments to the Education Act, the Malta Union of Teachers made no reference to the introduction of home-schooling under new proposed amendments to current legislation, but welcomed the inclusion of Kindergarten Assistants and Learning Support Assistants in an amended Council for Educators.

This would translate into licensing or warranting of all educators, it said.

The MUT also praised the inclusion of a provision through a newly-proposed board to address situations where educators and parents are not in agreement about educational decisions taken in the best interest of children.

It encouraged all educators to participate in the consultation process about the new act.
