The 2017 Budget which is expected to be announced in autumn will not hold any surprises, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said, adding that government would be focusing on stimulating the economy and offering incentives investors.

In a meeting with the Malta Development Association, Muscat said “a strong economy allows a better distribution of wealth that will in return be pumped back into the economy.”

MDA boss Sandro Chetcuti praised the government for the country's strong economic growth and said this had fuelled developers to continue investing in the economy.

In its proposals for the coming budget, the MDA was putting forward a scheme for second-time buyers that would prove very popular, Chetcuti said.

He said the MDA believed there was a great future ahead for Malta as the current strong economy had even surpassed the development boom of the 1990s.
