Minister for small businesses Chris Cardona praised Metallform for the investment it was committing itself to and noted that this was further evidence of trust in the Maltese workforce and the economic climate
Metallform is investing €1.3 million in an expansion programme that includes the extension of current facilities and the creation of more than 70 new jobs.
Economy and small business minister Chris Cardona visited the company with education minister Evarist Bartolo on Monday, and noted that the company – which had originally opened its doors with only 15 employees – was now doing business internationally, as well as employing 256 people.
Cardona praised the company for the investment it was committing itself to and said that this was further evidence of trust in the Maltese workforce and the economic climate.
He said the government’s sound economic policies were leading to positive growth that was, in turn, resulting in greater job creation.
Latest Eurostat figures showed that in the three years under this administration, more than 20,000 jobs had been created.
This increase in the number of jobs was most evident in the services sector, especially administrative, technical and professional services, Cardona said.
Financial services and communications, as well as health and education, also saw a considerable number of jobs created.
Cardona noted that the country had also registered the second lowest unemployment rate in the European Union, placing better than Germany, that was considered Europe’s economic motor.
Bartolo said that a number of initiatives had been introduced to facilitate the economic growth the country was enjoying, including the free childcare centres inititative as well as measures to assist women and young people. Ministru Cardona.
