120 lose driving licence
2009 was the year during which the new points-based driving licence system left the greatest ripples, ‘sentencing’ 120 careless drivers to retaking their driving tests.
Between the launch of new points-based licence system in 2004 and the present day, 120 drivers lost all of their points and had to retake the test, weekly newspaper Illum reports.
This translates into an average of 17 drivers a year, and information received by the newspaper confirms that 29 drivers have also lost their licences this year. A glance at the figures shows that in the past seven years, as many as 5,035 drivers had points shaved off their total.
