Traces of foam found in commercially sold communion wafers

Pieces of foam have been found in a batch of commercially sold (and unconsecrated) communion wafers.

The health directorate issued a warning about the products  as they can pose a risk of suffocation.

The wafers are produced by Italian company Ostificio Morreale, and they are marked as Lot L 0516, and expire in 05/17.

The directorate warned that part of the consignment has been sold, and that the public is invited to contact the Health Inspectorate Services between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on telephone number 21337333, or call personally at its offices at Continental Business Centre, Old Railway Track, Santa Venera or by email [email protected].

The public is also being invited to access the Directorate’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Environmental-Health-Directorate-Malta/145027878928626?ref=hl  or our official website at http://health.gov.mt/en/environmental/Pages/Home-Page.aspx
