Two firefighters injured in Gozo fire
The two were taken to hospital where one was found to have suffered grevious injuries
Two firefighters were injured on Wednesday as they fought to put out a fire that engulfed an unoccupied residence in Xewkija, Gozo.
The civil protection department said the two firefighters were among personnel dispatched to St Mary Street in Xewkija from the Gozo Fire Station at around 1.50pm.
A 49-year-old firefighter from Fontana and a 43-year-old from San Lawrenz were taken to the Gozo General Hospital were the former was found to have suffered grevious injuries and had to undergo some medical tests. His colleague suffered slight injuries and was released from hospital.
