AD supports walk against use of animals in circus

Alternattiva Demokratika announces support of the symbolic walk in protest to be held on Wednesday 8th December at 5pm on the use of animals in circuses.

Simon Galea, AD spokesperson for animal welfare and agriculture, said: "The Green Party reaffirms its position in favour of a ban on use of wild and exotic animals in circuses. While stressing the need for competent authorities to monitor the welfare of animals currently being used in circuses, AD strongly believes that the circus environment  does not cater for the natural needs of most of these creatures.

"An elephant or a lion is not meant to spend its life travelling around in containers confined in small spaces. Definitely this environment is far from anything near its natural environment of the savannah."

Michael Briguglio, AD chairperson, added: "AD supports the NGOs and individuals which are active for animal rights. As a Green Party, AD gives top priority on animal welfare, as can be clearly seen in our electoral manifestos. We are also the only party with a spokesperson on animal welfare."
