Mrs Sant passed away earlier today after a long illness
Josephine Sant, mother of former Labour Prime Minister Alfred Sant has died.
Mrs Sant passed away earlier today, at the age of 96, having struggled with illness for some time.
Known for her aversion to being in the public eye, one of Mrs. Sant's few public appearances had been in 2008 at the Labour headquarters, on the occasion of her son's return to party leadership after a hiatus in which he had been receiving medical treatment.
In a statement this afternoon, the PN paid tribute to Mrs. Sant's memory and offered its condolences to the Sant family. The PL also expressed its sorrow at Mrs. Sant's passing, saying "Josephine Sant was a woman with strong values, an exemplary woman and above all, a mother."
