Government was proud that its policies and decisions had helped turn around the construction industry, and done away with the lack of work and quality that were prevalent in the past, according to infrastructure minister Joe Mizzi.

He was speaking Wednesday at the launch of the Construction, Property and Interiors Expo 2016 held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

Mizzi said that the construction industry remained one of Malta’s main sectors and was pivotal to the economy.

“This government recognised the industry’s importance and this is why we continue to invest in training, as well as keeping up to date with regulations and legislation that reflect today’s reality,” he said.

“One of our main concerns today is safety and security on sites, as well as enforcement practices.”

Mizzi praised the Expo’s organisers for bringing together many stakeholders in the industry to showcase the latest innovations and technology in the sector under one roof, making it easily accessible to the public.
