Labour whip was aware of honoraria increase – finance minister
Finance Minister Tonio Fenech says Labour whip Joe Mizzi had been informed of increase in MPs’ honoraria.

The finance ministry has reacted to Labour leader’s press conference on renouncing an increase in MPs’ honoraria, claiming that Labour whip Joe Mizzi had been aware of plans to increase MPs’ salaries.
Mizzi has also renounced the increase, along with PL deputy leader for parliamentary affairs Anglu Farrugia.
“Labour whip Joe Mizzi knew of the increase and agreed with it. This was discussed back in July with me,” Tonio Fenech said. “Various Labour MPs started inquiring as to when they would be recieving the salary increase. The Opposition is now manipulating the facts, a dishonesty that lays bare the party’s opportunism.”

Even if the whole LP party knew about these increases, what difference does this make.
This means that whilst you were crying crocodile tears for us because the economy can only afford us and increase in our weekly wage by € 1.16 (50 cents ma tisthux) you were planning behind our backs to take this enormous increase and back dated.

If these increases went through as they are they will cost an extra €4 million a year.
It is easy to see how PL can find the money to right things up.
Money saved is money gained.

What if the PL whip knew about the increases, it shows the political immatureity of Tonio and Co.
Looks like they were led up the garden path with PL scoring a very good point in favour whilst laying bare gonziPN's under the table dealings.
To get themselves a hefty wage increase they tried to implicate the PL so as to get absolution.
