Two separate drug investigations lead to three arrests

Over the last two days, two separate drug stings have led to the arrest of three persons.

A joint operation between the Police force and members of the force stationed at the Correctional Facility in Corradino led to the arrest of two men.

A 39-year-old prisoner has been detained together with a 35-year-old man from Birgu. The latter was observed giving a pack to prisoners whilst they were at Court.

Later it was documented that the packaged contained heroin and the plan was for it to be trafficked inside the Corradino Facility.

Another investigation carried out by the Police yesterday morning at Mellieha led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man residing in the same locality. Following information received, the Police searched his residency.

The search in fact revealed cocaine ready to be trafficked and other objects related to the trafficking of drugs.

The three men are expected to stand trial in the coming days on accusations of drug trafficking.

One question.....how can someone be allowed to approach a prisoner and get so close as to be able to hand him a pack/packet??? And in a court of law too.......
