Political parties fundraising telethons surpass last year’s
Yesterday’s fundraising marathons have resulted fruitful for both the Nationalist Party and the Labour Party who collected €436,135 and €235,902 respectively.
Collecting the funds through telephone calls and at their respective headquarters, both parties carried an entertainment programme long 12 hours whilst giving out presents to those who donate.
A yearly activity, during last year's activity the PN had raised €410,525 whilst the PL had collected €210,511.
Other donations were also collected through activities organised by the respective local councils.
In his radio interview on Sunday morning, PL leader Joseph Muscat had urged to all those who could contribute to come forward.
Whilst addressing the audience on NET TV, deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg stressed that the donations should be considered as “an investment” in the Nationalist Party.
