Delimara | Joseph Muscat has a lot of explaining to do – PN
The PN has called on Opposition leader Joseph Muscat to explain his position with regards to Israeli firm Bateman.
In a statement, the PN referred to what the Auditor General said during this morning's sitting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that continued to discuss the AG's findings on the controversial contract awarded to BWSC for the Delimara Power Station contract.
"According to what was said before the Public Accounts Committee, the Labour leader has 'good' contacts with the Israeli company Bateman,” the PN said.
The PN stressed that during the sitting, it was revealed that Muscat was the one who initiated the discussion into the Delimara contract offer when he met with the Israeli Ambassador .
"“In the Auditor General’s testimony, it emerged that that the Israeli company’s offer was €300 million higher than the chosen bid,” the PN said.
“As the Labour Party admitted, the Israeli Ambassador is correct to claim that he exerted no pressure in favour of the Israeli company," the PN said, adding that on this basis, "Muscat “now has some explanations to make.”
The PN asked why did Joseph Muscat have to raise an issue on this company's offer would have cost €300 million more in bills for the Maltese to pay?
The PN also asked what were Muscat’s true interests in the matter.
