Tourist numbers up 29.3% in November
An increase was also registered in visitors arriving for business or professional reasons
Last November saw the number of visitors arriving in Malta increase by 27,606 or 24%, when compared to November 2015.
According to the lastest data published by the National Statistics Office (NSO), inbound visitors arriving in Malta for a holiday increased by 29.3%, while those arriving in Malta for business or professional reasons increased by 12.2%. There was a drop in the number of people visiting for educational, religious or health tourism reasons.
The total number of nights spent in Malta increased by 14.2% over the previous year, with the majority of nights being spent in hotels, hostels and other collective accommodation establishments.
There was also, a 25.8% increase in visitors making use of private accommodation, the category under which accommodation booked through AirBnb falls under.
The majority of inbound tourists were aged between 25 and 44 and the total expenditure was estimated at €101.7 million, up 12.9% over the same period last year.
