[WATCH] Police role in EU presidency: 'more than meets the eye'

A new video launched by the Malta Police Force gives a glimpse into the role it is playing in the Malta’s six-month tenure at the helm of the Presidency of the EU Council.

Inspector P. Saliba, of the Traffic Division, said that the public may only be aware of the apparent roles officers carry out in large-scale events, such traffic or security escorts. However, he said, the Police Force is involved in much more than that.

Saliba outlined the co-operation between different agencies, including the Armed Forces of Malta and the Civil Protection Department, as well as being involved in logistic arrangements in terms of transport and communications.

“This is the real work of the Police Force which involves full commitment to ensure that everything proceeds smoothly and according to plan,” Saliba said.
