Internet-enabled Creche
A number of computers along with software programmes have been donated to the Creche institute in Pieta.
SITA Malta donated ten computers and Microsoft Malta set up a new Local Area Network and the 20 Windows and 20 Office 2010 Professional software programmes to ensure that the Creche institute is equipped with an up-to-date IT infrastructure that will enable the community to reach out to the world.
Madre Luciana at Angela House in Pieta was presented with the package by Winston Pirotta from SITA Malta and Fiorella Ellul Sullivan from Microsoft Malta.
“Our scope is primariliy to increase IT awareness and IT skills amongst the children in the orphanage, by providing an adequate IT infrastructure and through the proliferation of Internet access, help generate more public awareness about the amazing work that the Ursuline sisters are doing with their children” Pirotta says.
Ellul Sullivan says “Microsoft’s donation stems from our knowledge that today, millions of the world’s citizens lack the access and, more importantly, the skills they need to participate in the new information-based global economy to realize their full potential.Microsoft is determined to dramatically improve those statistics.”
Madre Luciana thanked both organisations on behalf of the children at the orphanage saying that it is thanks to donations like these that it is possible for organisations like them to make ends meet
