AFM evacuates woman in labour

A pregnant woman was evacuated from a vessel early this morning, when she went into labour. The armed forces responded to a call for assistance from a vessel participating in an operation coordinated by MRCC Rome.

“A Melita class SAR launch was immediately dispatched to the vessel and brought the woman ashore. She was transferred to hospital by ambulance,” read an statement by the armed forces.
