Foreigners make up 40% of prison population

Roughly 40% if inmates at the Corradino Correctional Facility, are third country nationals, up from 35% in 2015, according to Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela.

Abela was replying to a parliamentary question by Opposition MP Chris Said.

According to figures provided by the minister, the number of foreign inmates is currently 224 out of a total of 559 prisoners.
