Maltese Bishop dies in Australia

Maltese bishop Joe Grech, who was based in Victoria, Australia, died this morning, aged 62.

In a statement, the Curia said that Bishop Grech, who is from Balzan, died early this morning.

He was ordained bishop on April 27 and was responsible for emigrants, refugees and young people on behalf of the Australian Episcopal Conference.

In a statement saluting Grech’s passing and the work he carried out throughout his life both locally and abroad, the Bishops of Malta and Gozo, along with the Clergy and Laymen united in prayer with Grech’s family and all those who benefited from his pastoral work.
