Labour hits out at BWSC 'misinformation' campaign on media
Government ad campaign promoting BWSC costs €40,000 Labour MP says.
Labour MP Evarist Bartolo has attacked a government advertising campaign promoting the new power station extension, the subject of a year-long inquiry by the Auditor General in 2010.
Bartolo said the €40,000 advertising campaign, which he claimed was “misinformation”, was partisan and misleading.
“Lawrence Gonzi’s government is selecting information from the Auditor General’s report when this same report had found various large irregularities in the award of the contract,” Bartolo – who led the Opposition’s campaign against the €200 million extension contract – said.
“After Gonzi gave his cabinet colleagues and himself a weekly €600 salary increase, it is clar now how tax money is being used at a time when this government is demanding big sacrifices from Maltese and Gozitan families.”
