GWU calls off action at Paola health centre
Agreement was reached after GWU’s section secretary Jeremy Camilleri met with Helath Minister Fearne
Following a meeting with Health Minister Chris Fearne, the General Workers’ Union has called a stop to industrial action it ordered some weeks ago at the Paola health centre.
The union had ordered the action on 25 March after the authorities failed to address discrimination being faced by staff in the centre’s reception, who were being treated in a different manner than their counterparts in other health centres.
GWU’s government and public entities section secretary Jeremy Camilleri met with Fearne and reached an agreement for the benefit of the workers and patients alike.
In a statement, the union thanked Fearne for his timely intervention and for accepting a recommendation it had put forward years ago.
