Police hunt for 'five foot man' in connection with four hold-ups in Zebbug

A man, not taller than five feet, is reported to be the man behind four hold-ups committed in Zebbug in the space of a week.

Police sources have confirmed that evidence suggests that all four hold-ups on shop owners in Zebbug throughout last week, were the work of the same man.

Victims have reportedly tallied in their description of the man that has entered four shops and aggressively stolen money from the shop owners.

In one of the cases, a shop owner was hospitalised for slight injuries after an altercation with the robber.

The last hold-up was reported on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the Zebbug Local Council has embarked on introducing a series of initiatives intended on strengthening security in the locality.

One of the initiatives is reported to be the announcement of a European conference to be hosted in Zebbug  under the auspices of the European Forum of Urban Security.

In the meantime the police are wasting their time investigating egg-throwing in Mosta reported by Edwin Vassallo MP. Here is a free hint to the police. How was this MP involved in the PN Club in Mosta and reports on drug trafficking in the same club? The police should ask Vassallo who he thinks was responsible for the drug trafficking and they will get the answer regarding the culprit/s throwing that amount of eggs in the area pinpointed by the same MP. Come on, folks, grow up. As the Latin proverb goes, the stench comes from the top. In the meantime the police corps has still failed to answer a PQ concerning the last minute tip given to the Mosta PN Club director prior to the drug squad swoop. Who gave the face-saving tip? It may have saved the PN Club directors et al. But it certainly did not save Edwin Vassallo MP from the drug traffickers. This is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me ...

Joe South jahlu s-sieghat u l-granet biex fl-ahhar jaghmlu l-minuti u jibqghu bihom. Hemm bzonn li ssir din il-konferenza biex jitwahhlu kameras tas-sigurtà u minflok il-wirdensis Melitensis joqghodu jwahhlu citazzjonijiet ghal xejn b'xejn jityqabbdu biex iduru mar-rahal? U fejn huma l-pulizija li qabel kienu jduru bil-mixi madwar ir-rahal kollu u kienu jservu ta' deterrent ghal kull att kriminali?

So, up to now, we know that the man is not taller than five feet - the main reason why he has chosen to hold up outlets run by females and that he has a tattoo on his lower arm, and that he buys syringes from the same pharmacist. Do we need to call in Inspector Colombo to find this half-pint robber? What are the plainclothes policemen and the mobile squad doing in the neighbourhood, just passing their time of day?

“Meanwhile, the Zebbug Local Council has embarked on introducing a series of initiatives intended on strengthening security in the locality. One of the initiatives is reported to be the announcement of a European conference to be hosted in Zebbug under the auspices of the European Forum of Urban Security” That is exactly the usual empty promises that bureaucrats and politicians are so specialized in promising to their electorate in hope for votes. The truth is that neither bureaucrats nor politicians can actually solve the problem against this kind of crime. Not even Police let alone them. This kind of pity crime can be prevented by handing rights to the individual in order to protect himself, his family and his interests. At the height of these incidents, the introduction of gun rights should at least be considered!

Would Neighbourhood Watch help? Everyone will take note of anything unfamiliar in his area and then, if need be, pass the information to the police. Also, with all these mobile phones in hand, should'nt anyone seeing someone armed or putting on a mask inform the police immediately? Tomorrow it might be your family that is attacked and robbed.
