Simon Busuttil hands Adrian Delia office keys
‘These are keys of responsibility’ Busuttil told the new Nationalist Party leader
Newly-elected Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia was handed the key to the office he will occupy and head of the party by outgoing leader Simon Busuttil this morning.
In brief comments to the media after, Busuttil congratulated Delia on his election, adding that he was handing him the ‘keys of responsibility’.
“As I have already said, he has a great responsibility,” said Busuttil. “The PN has a long glorious 140-year history. It is a big honour and a privilege to be leader but also a great responsibility.”
“It has always been a great responsibility, let alone now that we have a government that has won a second mandata but is in our opinion rotten on the inside, as we saw this morning in the courts,” he added.
Busuttil went on to say that “we still need to go to court for a basic criminal investigation into proven allegations”.
Delia on his part thanked Busuttil, adding that the two were friends and colleagues who had known each other for forty years.
The new PN leader added that his role was not about power but about being of service to the nation.
“I am humbly offering this service to the party and the country and hope that god is with me during this journey,” he said.
