The Democratic Party has asked the Speaker of the House to protect its right of expression through a ruling to safeguard the rights of PD members Marlene Farrugia and Godfrey Farrugia to be given sufficient time to speak in Parliament.

Speaking in parliament this evening, Godfrey Farrugia said that both the government and opposition claimed that Parliament supported equal rights, non-discrimination, inclusivity and democracy.

He said, however, that it was a fact that himself and Marlene Farrugia sometimes faced difficulties related to the amount of time allotted to them to make their voice heard in Parliament.

“I don’t want to take any time from anyone, but I want to have my own time,” Farrugia said.

He thus asked the Speaker to address this through a ruling.
