Graves to almost double at Mellieha cemetery

The Planning Authority have approved the planning permission for 76 new graves to be excavated at an existing cemetery in Mellieha.

The cemetery known as “Omm il-Hniena”, located at the bottom of the road that leads down from the centre of Mellieha to Ghadira Bay, currently has 82 graves.

The project, which is expected to cost €400,000, will almost double the number of graves.

Works will also include alterations and maintenance to the boundary wall, the replacement of an existing steel gate and minor works on the chapel.
