Man arrested after bomb scare delays catamaran’s departure from Pozzallo

Maltese police have reportedly arrested a man in connection with a bomb threat that delayed yesterday's departure of the Maltese-flagged catamaran ‘Jean de la Vallette’ from Pozzallo, in Sicily.

MaltaToday is informed that the Maltese police informed their Italian counterparts about the threat that was received yesterday evening at the company’s offices in Ta’ Xbiex.

160 passengers on board were evacuated  from on board the catamaran and made to wait for at least four hours inside the terminal in Pozzallo, before an all clear was given.

There has been no statement from Virtu’ Ferries that operate the Catamaran, however Maltese investigations have reportedly led to the arrest of a man who is suspected to have placed the call.

The vessel was released by the Italian Authority after the Malta Police confirmed that the case is solved and the person involed is being arrested. Thanks for the good job carried it out by our Police Force. It`s good to be informed that the Italians`s did nothing at all in 4 hours neither a search with Bomb desposal equipment. Again well done to our men in Blue.
