Sunday’s market moved to Park and Ride

The weekly Sunday market will be vacating its time-honoured venue and relocate to a space adjacent to the  Park and Ride in Floriana as from next Sunday, February 6.

In a statement,t the Secretariat responsible for small business said the move is due to the works which have started for the building of the new bus terminus at the same ditch. The new bus terminus forms part of the Public Transport reform.

The Secretariat said it had met up with the stall owners and discussed the move, primarily focusing on the best new location for them not to suffer any negative impacts on their selling which might result from the relocation.

The Secretariat also said that the new zone will be made accessible to the public through bus route 198 and through the use of the park and ride’s shuttle service which will operate to and fro Valletta.

This will be the end of the Monti, as a Sunday flea market. I am very sorry with the decision taken by the government because the government consulted them after a decision was taken. I have relatives who are hawkers and always supported the PN but now are schocked with such a drastic decision which means that their business will collapse.
