Contacted by MaltaToday, police confirm that so far, there were no serious injuries despite a number of calls coming in for accidents. These however involved damaged trees and poles.

According to the MIA weather forecast, a southwest wind will soon veer westerly very strong locally reaching gale, and will continue veering northwest at gale force locally severe gale at times. This warning is valid till 8pm this evening.

The conditions are due to a depression over the Ionian Sea that is moving slowly eastwards. Weather conditions are cloudy with showers possibly thundery at times becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers.

Until noon tomorrow the weather will be rather cloudy with a very strong to gale Northwest wind
