Labour Party approves first group of European Parliament election candidates
The candidates include Felix Busuttil, Josef Caruana, Miriam Dalli, Cyrus Engerer, James Grech, Alex Saliba and Joe Sammut
The Labour Party’s executive yesterday announced the approval of its first batch of European parliamentary election candidates.
The candidates are dancer Felix Busuttil, former L-Orrizont editor Josef Caruana, current MEP Miriam Dalli, the PM’s consultant o EU affairs Cyrus Engerer, financial practitioner James Grech, lawyer Alex Saliba, and lawyer and former MP Joe Sammut.
The Party said that more candidates will be announced in the weeks to come.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the election will be a challenge for the Labour Party since it comes halfway through its second term, but they will work to assure positive results.
"Maltese people can see the difference between Labour and Nationalist MEPs, with the former working for Malta and its citizens and the latter having the sole purpose of hurting the government. Malta deserves representatives working to strengthen Malta's name in Europe," Muscat said.
The European Parliament elections are expected to be held in between 23 and 26 May 2019.
