Abandoned baby found on the doorstep of a block of apartments in Bugibba

An newborn boy was found abandoned on the doorstep of a block of apartments in Bugibba, on Triq il-Pijunieri.
The baby was found at around 4pm Friday afternoon. The baby was a newborn and had its umbilical cord still attached.
Police investigations are ongoing, with Magistrate Joe Mifsud leading a magisterial inquiry.
It has been given the name Cristiano by Magistrate Mifsud, a well known Juventus supporter, undoubtedly for the Italian club's latest signing, the Portuguese sensation Cristiano Ronaldo.
TVM reported that in a preliminary medical examination the baby was found to be in a good condition, weighing 3.5 kilos.
As part of the investigation Dr Marisa Cassar will carry out DNA tests while investigations are ongoing.
The Emergency Department established that the boy was born at about 12 noon. As the spot where he was found there were no signs of blood, suggesting that the infant was born elsewhere.
One News said police found no private CCTV cameras that could give any evidence to who could have placed the infant on the street.
Health Centres and private clinics have been alerted in case the mother requests medical assistance there.
