Hunters found guilty of threatening CABS volunteer at Mizieb
Two hunters were today found guilty at the law courts of threatening CABS volunteer, 26 year old Fiona Burrows from Nottingham, and breaching the peace at Mizieb last September.
Both were conditionally discharged for 18 months and ordered not to approach Ms Burrows for a set period of time subject to a fine. The two hunters were reported to the police after an incident which took place during a search for dead protected birds at the Mizieb woodland, carried out by BirdLife Malta and CABS on the 20th September last year. During the search Fiona Burrows was approached by the two men, who started shouting at her, grabbed and shook her, and attempted to take the remains of dead protected birds found by Ms Burrows. Over 280 dead birds stashed throughout the Mizieb woodland were unearthed by BirdLife Malta and CABS in 2009 and 2010. The remains of the birds were handed over to MEPA and the police. Both conservation organisations called for an investigation however no results have been communicated by the authorities to date.

Judge and jury must be avid hunters to dish out a sentence like that!
Shame! 280 birds illegally shot, birds which could give ejoyment to generations of bird watchers and naturalists obliterated and these hunters are given back the opportunity to go out and obliterate more!
They should have their shooting licence revoked!
