[WATCH] Adrian Delia’s heartfelt message on the true meaning of Christmas

Adrian Delia has spoken about how the difficult period he is currently going through is making him better understand how people experiencing similar situations truly feel.

Speaking on Xarabank on Friday, Delia, who is experiencing problems in his marriage, said that, for the first time, he is recognising the true meaning of Christmas.

In emotional and heartfelt comments, the Nationalist Party leader, who has five children with his wife Nickie Vella De Fremeaux, said the current period in his life was hard, especially since Christmas was a time which usually brought the whole family together.

“It’s not easy, because every family is a unit of intimacy and love. This is even more so when you have a big family,” he said, “Christmas brings with it a certain enthusiasm, all the preparations, and the being together of family… so it’s definitely not easy.”

“This is an opportunity for me to understand the things I always took for granted… things others might have never had.”

Delia said that, in the face of family tribulations, everyday concerns become meaningless.

“…Consumerism, work, targets, statistics… we suddenly realise there are things which are much more important,” he remarked.
