Adrian Delia promises year of perseverance in poetic Facebook post
‘To all those who wished that I do not salute this year as leader, perseverance throughout 2019 they shall witness’
Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia has taken to Facebook to push back against calls for his resignation with a poetic post indicating that he has no intention to resign, at least during 2019.
“To all those who wished that I do not salute this year as leader, perseverance throughout 2019 they shall witness,” the PN leader wrote.
In his post Delia describes how attacks and hatred have made him stronger, promising to pay back those who have shown him unconditional support.
The PN leader has been facing calls for his resignation, after it emerged in court documents that his wife Nickie Vella de Fremeaux has accused him of domestic violence.
The couple, who together have five children, are going through an acrimonious separation, details of which have become public over the Christmas period.
Delia has refused to comment on the allegations since they became public, insisting that he would be honouring an agreement between him and his wife, not to publicly discuss personal matters.
He has insisted that “malicious accusations” were being for political mileage by those with an interest in undermining his leadership.
To post was positively received by Delia supporters, several of whom responded with messages of support and the hashtag ‘myleader’.
Government planning consultant Robert Musumeci, who has been a vocal supporter of Delia, referred to the post as an ‘ode against hate’.
