Government registered third quarter surplus of €127.9 million last year

Government registered a surplus of €127.9 million between July and September last year, figures out on Friday show.
According to the National Statistics Office, the general government accounts registered an increase of 6.5% in revenue and a faster increase of 10.3% in expenditure.
The general government sector covers central government finances and public agencies and authorities.
The third quarter surplus follows a surplus of €116.5 million in the second quarter of 2018.
The NSO said that the consolidated fund – the central government finances – registered a surplus of €145 million in the third quarter.
