We’ve won the Super Five lottery! Oh f***, so have 76 others...
€350,000 jackpot is claimed by 77 players whose combination is in multiples of five – 5, 10, 15, 20, 25
Dozens had the best night of their lives on Wednesday, 30 January as their lucky Super Five claimed the grand prize – only before finding out that the €350,000 pot had to be shared among 77 lucky devils...
Indeed, 77 lucky ticket holders yesterday claimed the Super Five’s top prize of €350,000 – which meant that at the end of the night, they would be claiming ‘just’ €4,545.47 each.
The lucky numbers that clinched the top prize were themselves an orderly combination of multiple of fives... 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. Talk about the Super Five!
It would appear that these 77 players could be Malta’s very own select group to play a non-randomised selection of numbers in multiples of five... similar to playing an ‘unlikely’ combination of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Who would ever think of playing such a graceless combination? Yet, any such combination has an equal chance of winning in the Super Five lottery.
So if you’re not superstitious, perhaps it’s always better to ask for a random selection of numbers. Hopefully you will be the only one to clinch the winning prize.
Another 212 players won a four-number combination, each taking home €196.06; 2,474 took home €30 with three numbers. Next week’s jackpot is €200,000.
