AD - 'Politicians, parties should declare financial dealings with Gaddafi regime'

AD says those who are playing down the Libya issue should declare whether they have any financial or business interests with the Gaddafi regime.

Michael Briguglio, AD Chairperson, said: "The silence of some on the Libya issue is striking. We are also perplexed by the fact that some politicians seem to be playing down the threats made by the Gaddafi regime, and are calling for mediation instead of a UN-mandated peace keeping force. Unfortunately, you can't mediate with someone committing such atrocities."

Prof Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Spokesperson on EU and International Affairs, added: "There has been so much kow-towing to Libya in the past years, and many attribute this to alleged vested interests that the political parties and some politicians might have with the Libyan dictatorial regime. Those who are playing down the dangers of the Gaddafi regime should immediately state whether they have any financial or business interests with his regime."
