Updated | [WATCH] Waves deposit fish on the roads, people pick them up in the storm
New reports keep coming related to the aftermath of the storm as some people brave the coast roads with people picking up fish off the roads
Live fish are being deposited on the roads as cars drive by the coastline in Xemxija.
The waves of up to thirteen metres, caused by the gale force winds of up to 70 knots have continuously assailed the coasts and the roads in areas like Xemxija and St Julian's.
Fish too have suffered the storm as many fish are floundering on the macadam in Xemxija.
Another video shows several people picking up fish from the road in the stormy weather. The fish is sea bream (awrat) from the nearby fish farm and the footage shows residents braving the crashing waves and enjoying their easy catch.
At one point, one of these reckless men was swept by the waves. Fortunately, he was rescued by one of his equally reckless mates. In the meantime, people were frantically crossing the streets in their desperate attempts to gather the deposited fish with cars swerving on the wrong side of the carriageway to avoid an accident.
Areas in St Julian's are being evacuated due to the severe flooding that took place over the night and early this morning.
Marsacala, St Paul's Bay, Valletta, Xemxija have all suffered the brunt of the storm due to the gale force winds.
U.S. fisherman, Dale Shetler, from Fishing Refined tipped in a few words about the phenomenon:
"The best thing to do in an unlikely situation like this is to gather the fish - especially in areas with heavy traffic. Just about all of the stranded fish will unavoidably die and they may potentially cause accidents when laying around everywhere."
