Tunisia’s interim government dissolve secret police service

Tunisia’s interim government has revealed it is dissolving the country’s secret police service.

The secret police agency had been accused of committing human rights abuses during the rule of former President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali. The interim government has announced a new government which includes 22 ministers.

Elections in the country are set to take place on 24 July. Protesters have been demanding that the new leaders move faster to bring about the political and social changes they have been calling for, following the ousting of Ben Ali.
