Maltese academic elected president of International School Psychology Association

Professor Paul A. Bartolo has been elected President of the International School Psychology Association (ISPA).

Prof. Bartolo has been the Coordinator of the MPsy (Ed) programme for the training of Educational Psychologists at the University of Malta since its inception in 1999.

ISPA is the international body of educational and school psychologists from across the world and enables communication between professionals who are committed to the improvement of the mental health of children in the world’s schools.

ISPA promotes the use of sound psychological principles and children’s rights in education while initiating cooperation with other organizations working in support of children and families. It is recognized by the United Nations as an important Non-Governmental Organization speaking on behalf of the wellbeing of children and young people.

ISPA organises an annual international conference in different parts of the world and publishes an international peer reviewed journal School Psychology International. Professor Bartolo is a current editorial member of this journal and was chair of the ISPA Conference held in Malta in 2009.
