Police seize 100 grammes of mephedrone

Following investigations by the Police which led to the discovery of 50 grammes of mephedrone drug, the Police have now seized more than 100 grammes of the same substance.

The first discovery was made last Friday afternoon by the Customs Enforcement Officers whilst inspecting packages which arrived to Malta by post.

Further investigation by the Police led to the arrest of two foreigners living in Malta: a 24-year-old American man and a 22-year-old Romanian woman, both residing in Attard.

On Sunday they appeared in front of court accused of drug trafficking.

Following their arrest, further investigation led to the discovery of another package, containing 100 grammes of mephedrone, at a post office branch addressed to the same persons.

A police investigation is underway.
