Migrants escape from Marsa reception centre
Five of the thirteen migrants that ran away have since been apprehended by the police and returned to the reception centre
Thirteen migrants absconded from the Initial Reception Centre in Marsa on Monday night, the government said.
It said that “as per policy”, the migrants were being “assessed for checks and medical clearance”, when they escaped.
It added that another two migrants had escaped from the Office of the Refugee Commissioner when they were taken to apply for protection.
“The police were informed immediately and a police report was filed on site,” the government said. “Today, five of the migrants returned to the Initial Reception Centre.”
