Elderly couple seriously injured after being run over

An elderly couple sustained serious injuries after being run over in their hometown Qormi at 7am on Wednesday, the police said.

The accident happened in Triq il-Vitorja. The couple was run over by a Ford Fiesta driven by a 33-year-old woman from Qormi.

The 72-year-old woman and 73-year-old man were taken to Mater Dei Hospital where they were certified to have suffered serious injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
