Gzira establishment Funky Monkey ablaze, police investigating possible arson

The now permanently closed Funky Monkey entertainment establishment on Manoel Island has caught fire. 

Police have told MaltaToday they received a call at around 7:50pm on Wednesday evening about a large fire on Manoel Island. They said that the fire started in a nearby gazebo that then took over the entire establishment. 

The fire has since then been controlled, Police have said. The Civil Protection Department along with the police went on site following the emergency call. 

A Facebook post warned of 'hooded teenagers' that could have been possibly behind the fire. The post has been shared over 190 times at the time of this writing. Police have said that they are aware and that it could possibly be an arson case.

Police investigations continue.
