3.5 magnitude earthquake near Malta
Tremors were felt in various parts of Malta early this morning, where an earthquake followed by small seismic activity close to Malta’s shores was reported at early hours.
The Seismic Monitoring and Research Unit at the University of Malta reported an initial tremor at 1.34am GMT, with a magnitude of 3.3. The location was 35.99 degrees North and 14.91 degrees East.
An undersea earthquake was later reported with a magnitude of 3.5. The location of the quake was 35.93 degrees North, 14.94 degrees East, and took place at 4.38 am GMT.
Tremors were reportedly felt in Valletta, Floriana, Marsascala, Zabbar, Qormi, Siggiewi, Msida and Marsa.
There were no reports of damage.
