Diesel, kerosene, gas prices up

Enemalta and Liquigas have announced higher prices for diesel, kerosene and gas, owing to higher prices on the international market.

In separate statements, Enemalta and Liquigas announced the increases.

Enemalta said that diesel has increased 3c, from €1.31 to €1.34, while unleaded petrol remained unchanged at €1.38 per litre.

Kerosene went up by 4c – from €1.30 to €1.34, and gasoil for heating 2c, from 93c to 95c.

Meanwhile, Liquigas announced that a 10kg cylinder of gas will now be sold at €13.50 while a 12kg cylinder will now sell at €16.00.

Liquigas said that the prices were at their highest on the international market for the last five years, and the expected reduction in the cost of gas that normally happened after the winter season did not occur this year since the suppliers of LPG on the international market retained prices high in line with petroleum trends.

The funny thing about all this is that Easygas informed its clients that their prices have remained static as there were no changes in the gas prices in the international market !!!. Who are we to believe , the once monopolistic Liquigas or the newcomers od Easygas ?.

HAs anyone yet noticed that all energy products prices are increased on the first day of the month? Does the Government / Enemalta buy their supplies on the first of the month? Whom does the Dr Gonzi think he can fool?
