Englishman caught with 8kgs of cannabis in luggage on arrival from Dubai

A 56 year-old Englishman has been arrested by the Police after he was found to be carrying some eight kilogrammes of cannabis resin inside his suitcase as he arrived in Malta from Dubai.

The Englishman, who lives in Thailand was arrested soon after customs officials traced the drugs hidden inside the double bottom of his suitcase.

Following interrogations at the Police headquarters in Floriana, the Englishman is expected to be arraigned in court and face charges of criminal conspiracy, importation and trafficking in drugs.

A magesterial inquiry led by Magistrate Audrey Demicoli is underway.
