Finance minister denies VAT amnesty claims

Finance minister Tonio Fenech has denied an allegation by Labour leader Joseph Muscat that an amnesty on VAT defaulters was to be announced.

“It’s a pity that the Opposition leader invented this story that can have negative repercussions for the country’s revenues... this speculation harms the economy because it can lead operators to fall back in their VAT payments.””
