The European elections: Tonight on Reporter
Reporter to ask: Why are the Maltese campaigns focusing on local politics during an MEP campaign? Are parties treating the candidates on the same footing?
A week into the MEP election campaigns, Reporter on TVM will delve in the party’s MEP campaigns.
Reporter presenter Saviour Balzan hosts Labour deputy leader Toni Abela and PN secretary-general Chris Said to analyse why the Nationalist Party and Labour Party are placing importance on local politics during the European elections.
Reporter will also discuss whether parties are giving prominence to certain candidates. Incumbent Labour MEP Joseph Cuschieri had claimed that Labour was not treating his candidature on the same footing as that of other candidates, suggesting that the party did not want to be a successful candidate.
“I never participated in an election where the result is already fixed. In these circumstances, there was no fairness in the European Parliament election,” Joseph Cuschieri had said before announcing his dramatic U-turn and subsequent decision to contest the upcoming elections.
Also hosted will be PL MEP hopeful Marlene Mizzi, and Nationalist candidate Stefano Mallia.
The programme is produced and presented by Saviour Balzan, assisted by Fredrick Attard and the MediaToday newsroom.
Reporter is aired live every Monday at 6:55pm on TVM. The programme is repeated on TVM2 on Monday at 10:15pm.
