IMF chief to undergo DNA tests over alleged maid assault

International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn will appear in court later today with trying to rape a hotel maid in New York.

IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn was to appear in front of court yesterday evening but the hearing was delayed to allow for him to be examined for evidence.

News media report how Strauss-Kahn appeared in handcuffs in New York last night as two police detectives escorted him from a police station to a waiting car. Officers said he was being taken to the booking station at Manhattan Criminal Court.

Strauss-Kahn was arrested at the JFK airport and is facing charges of a criminal sexual act, attempted rape and unlawful imprisonment following an alleged attack on a hotel maid.

Back in October 2008, Strauss-Kahn had issued an apology to the IMF staff after accusations that he had had a sexual relationship with an IMF subordinate.
