Red Arrow pilot dies after crash
Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging, a Red Arrows pilot, has been killed after he crashed with his jet in Bournemouth, England.
According to the Sunday Mail, the Red Arrows pilot was killed after he steered his plane away from houses seconds before it plunged to earth. Egging, a 33-year-old from Rutland, was the pilot of the elite RAF aerial display team’s Red Arrow Four.
The jets had been at Bournemouth Air Show, in Hampshire.
The Ministry of Defence said Egging died when his Hawk aircraft crashed and confirmed with Sky News that it was investigating the cause of the accident.
Eyewitnesses reported the plane seemed to be guided away from houses and from people walking near the riverbank before it crashed. Reportedly, Egging tried to eject from the plane but was thrown from the aircraft when it smashed into the ground.
